Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, onions, and garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, then add a layer of the ricotta mixture, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkling of mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
